I too have experienced that Alpha marine provides no help re problems with their units. While in Mexico and in Costa Rica any attempts on my part to get troubleshooting advice from the company were met with rude and confrontational responses.

Thus far I've solved problems by detailed circuit and component testing and replacement; once in the compass unit and once in the control unit. I would not advise purchase of an Alpha marine autopilot. When they work they work well but when they fail it's impossible to get help from the company, short of returning the unit and paying $$.

If you have any advice regarding obtaining service help especially when sailing not in the USA, I'd much appreciate hearing from you.
